Outdoor U!

rNebraska Outdoor U! will guide YOU on the path to Hunting, Shooting Sports, Camping, and Fishing. Whether you are new to these outdoor sports or are looking to improve your skills, this is the place for you!

Within each Pathway, there are six levels of achievement to be reached with incentives to keep you motivated and learning. Start with the basics by going through online tutorials and then quickly progress to hands-on programs. Once comfortable with your skills, you will have fun sharing your knowledge and helpingothers begin their own Nebraska Outdoor U! Pathway.


Master Naturalist The Nebraska Master Naturalist Program takes you into the field to learn hands-on about Nebraska's natural resources. This training provides an introduction to various natural resources disciplines, putting you in charge of your experience, and preparing you to become a certified conservation volunteer.


Nebraska Nature Network - rThe Nebraska Nature Network provides YOU with the opportunity to connect yourself and your family to nature programs and opportunities throughout Nebraska. With one quick step you will be on your way to fun and exciting nature activities in your area! So get outside and explore the events, opportunities, and resources that your state has to offer.


Nebraska's Outdoor Family Event Trailers -

The intent of the Outdoor Families Event Trailer is to provide a turn-key ready trailer filled with 17 activities to host a 1-day event. The goal is to engage Nebraska’s youth and families in nature and outdoor activities.

Groups, such as, Pheasants Forever Chapters, Boy/Girl Scout Troops, churches, youth groups or schools are welcome to check-out the Trailer. 

Most supplies for each of the 17 activities are provided with the Trailer (a few consumable items will need to be purchased by the group using the Trailer)


rOHEC - This new facility allows outdoor enthusiasts to continue participationinvarious outdoor pursuits by providing a well-equipped and familiar facility that appeals to families and youth of all ages. 


rProject Wild -Project WILD provides interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education curriculum and materials that focus on wildlife. Project WILD programs and materials assist learners of all ages to develop the awareness, knowledge, skills, and commitment to act responsibly in matters concerning wildlif View the 2010 annual report for more information on the impact of Project WILD.


rNASP - NASP is a nationally acclaimed program that provides training and certification for teachers to teach target-style basic archery instruction in their school gymnasium using the NASP school archery kit. One-day teacher training workshops and equipment grants are provided by the Commission to assist schools in teaching Nebraska students a safe and enjoyable life skill.


Outdoor Skills After School Program - Outdoor Skills is the ultimate after school program designed to introduce youth to diverse outdoor recreational opportunities through interactive hands-on, skill based activities. The program was developed collaboratively by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and University of Nebraska Extension division. County Extension staff and volunteers are teaching the skills during afterschool programs and during summer workshops. Life-long outdoor skills, friendships and confidence are developed through the fun games, projects and activities.
