KEARNEY OUTDOOR DISCOVERY FAMILY DAY

Mark your calendar: The 2013 Outdoor Discovery Family Day will take place May 11, 2013.

This event was formerly the Outdoor Expo.  The event will be at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area, open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Outdoor Discovery Family Day will showcase the state’s vast number of fun activities for outdoor enthusiast of all age.  This event is designed to meet the needs of anyone interested in outdoor lifestyle, regardless of age or experience. 

Participating in the activities is free.  An annual or daily park permit per vehicle will be required. 

Bring the entire family to enjoy a day of FREE interactive hands-on activities Shooting Slingshots Kayaking Fishing Archery Camping Games Outdoor Cooking Bow Fishing   Don’t miss these great opportunities View and touch Nebraska’s fish and turtle species Test your air rifle and shotgun skills Try bowfishing Shoot archery 3-D targets Eat smores and other outdoor cooking goodies Identify wildlife pelts at the “Trappers Tent” Engage in recreational outdoor games Play with nature in the kids “Discovery Zone” Cook lunch over a fire - Free hotdog to cook over the fire to the first 1000 that visit the “Campground Zone” Kayaking, fishing, wildlife identification, slingshots and much more Youth lifetime half permit drawing

*Cabela’s Outdoor Challenge

Friendly competition for the entire family sponsored by Cabela’s.  No experience needed.  Anyone that completes all 6 activities in their age division is eligible to win Cabela’s gift cards and gear packages.  Cabela’s Outdoor Challenge cards will be handed out at the designated activities.  Challenge is split into three age divisions; 8 and under, 8 – 15 and 16 and Over.  Activities will include slingshots, fish casting, shotguns, archery, camping games and many more.  Don’t miss this fun opportunity.
