Hide The Truck?

January 18, 2010 Lock, Stock and Bedlam No Comments

Went to a couple of spots to call for coyotes today and I was duped.   We parked the truck in the field just a few yards from the road so as not to spook any coyotes in the crick bottom.  We walked about 1/2 mi to the crick and sat down to call.   We did call in a gorgeous red-tailed hawk that absolutely went bonkers over our moving decoy.  After a few minutes of gawking and screaming, she left the area but it was very cool!   After about 40 minutes we left the crick bottom heading back to the truck.  As we came over the rise in the field we could see the truck and a fleeing coyote that had come into our call.  As we approached the truck we had to chuckle.  No further than 10 feet from my front tire…the coyote had sat in the snow and eaten most of a bluejay.  For years I have preached to others to make sure you hide your truck.  Sure didn’t seem to matter to this coyote…he used mine as a wind break for breakfast.  Ya just gotta love nature!

Get em’ out there!
