Staying Warm
This weekend should be about as much cold as any hunter could wish for. With a low of -22 tonight, hard to imagine you could be comfortable outdoors but you CAN.
When dressing for bitter cold tems, think layering. Start with moisture wicking long underwear. This is an area where Under Armour and other synthetics shine. They wick moisture away from the body and provide some insulation. Next is a good place for polyester….fleece! Fleece is a good transporter of moisture, light weight and insulates. A couple fleece layers may be called for. Next is the WOOL! Other fabrics can work well too but I still think wool is the best.
Much heat escapes your head so a good face mask is essential. Cover your ears, face, neck, etc. Just a few minutes exposure in thie weather can cause damage to skin. A heavy boot over some wool socks will help keep feet warm and if sitting on stand…heat packs the shape of your foot outside your sock will work wonders. And the best for last…I like a collar that zips up over the lower half of my face (if you saw my face you’d understand)
Top it all off with good gloves! Cover the legs with heavy weight bibs and viola…you look just like the kid in “Christmas Story” but your warm.
Don’t let the weather keep you indoors but know how to dress for it. Keep some rations in the truck and have fun!
Get em…out there!

if they saw you face, they’d wish it’d cover the upper half too
on the serious side tho, after you get all the layers on, make sure you can drawyour bow, or shoulder you gun properly, also it’s a good idea to practice doing those things with several layers on so you will have an idea what to expect when in the field

Good comment. No sense in going through all the details only to not be able to make the shot at the moment of truth because you can’t move your arms. Now when have I been there?……
