Food, Fellowship & Gutting Deer with MP3
…Tuesday night was the Deer Hunter’s Banquet – a potluck for the metro-area Mentored Youth Archery Program (MYAP)…a chance for the Mentors, young archers and all their families to relive the past deer season and prepare for post-season scouting in March as well as the 2010 hunting season…not to mention the opportunity to gorge ourselves on some of the finest wild game dishes made by the some of the finest hunter-chefs in the state…
…MYAP is truly amazing, thanks in big part to the volunteers that make it possible by sacrificing their entire archery season to get these young hunters into the field…this program is even gaining national attention as past participants not only continue to hunt, but have become Bowhunter Ed Instructors, Natural Resource professionals and even outdoor celebs…though the real payoff is in hearing the stories from the parents of many MYAP hunters…
…2009 was a record year for the metro-area program with nearly 100 recent Bowhunter Ed graduates taking part & 17 Mentors…judging by this year’s Banquet, 2010 may be even bigger!…so, plans are already underway to make it possible…as any good hunter will tell you – successful hunting is a year-round endeavor…let the scouting begin!…
…special thanks to Kevin Markt, Jeff Micek, Loren Katt, Gary Brunberg, Jim Tubbs, Mike Yost, Wes Sheets, Tom Nauman, John Elliott, Rob Barlow, Mike Sharp, Curtis Schneider, Neil Chandler, Rod Sigel – as well as Janice Spicha…and our family at Full Draw Archery – Deb & Kent Colgrove!…this was a special night for all involved…unable to attend – but still a big part in making the evening possible were Steve Woitaszewski, Jim Garza & David Arrasmith…
…now if I can only figure out how to post Jessica S’s new video “Field Dressing Big Game – Hip Hop Style” to our blog – we could benefit all rhythmically-challenged hunters…Jessica, what song were you groovin’ to?…MYAP may have a new theme song to go along with our new recruiting video…

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
