Taking The Shot

April 4, 2010 Lock, Stock and Bedlam No Comments

We have all been there, worked our butts off to get that Tom within range, only to literally blow the shot.  This season, once that moment stands in front of you…STOP!  Make sure you have a safe shot.  Remember to aim for the base of the head/neck (shotgun) and have your gun or bow ready before that bird is in your lap.  If your not ready, have some faith in your decoys and wait until the bird spins around, giving you time to raise your gun or draw your bow.   Pick that one spot you aim to hit and let it go.  Don’t get into the rut of shooting at a bird…your shooting at a spot.
