She's Done it Again!
…just wanted to share the news that my beautiful wife connected on another Nebraska longbeard this past weekend…she did it in dramatic fashion, too, in the manner that she likes best – with her family – all her family…yes, our 6-year old son & 4-year old daughter got to go to the turkey woods with us, eat donuts and see mom harvest a mature, fat (nearly 24 lbs) tom…as you can see in the photo, everyone was very excited about the whole affair…
Keys to Leslie’s Success: 1) Patience - we made it to our turkey hunting spot well before dawn but the tom was harvested just before 10 a.m. 2) Ground Blind – we could all experience the hunt (and last longer) because of the blind that we had set-up the afternoon before the hunt. 3) Scouting – we had a pretty decent idea of where to set the blind from our recon trips, even though the birds were not roosted all that close to us. 4) Lonely Toms - hens are now leaving the toms for at least part of the day to lay eggs and do some nesting chores, which means once spoiled toms are looking for some attention. 5) Calling – Leslie did an awesome job of keeping the birds working towards us using purrs and clucks.
