The Stink on Scent-Lok
According to Field & Stream, a judge in Minnesota has ruled that the clothing giant ALS is liable for false advertising!
The smelly suit was brought forth by a few hunters that claimed their Scent-Lok clothing did not provide the type of 100% scent elimination as claimed. During the hearing, the plaintiffs called Dr. Amos Turk to the stand, a one time Scent-Lok consultant. Dr Turk suggested the article of clothing in question, provided by the plaintiff, would be relatively poor in reducing human odor.
This ruling does nothing to suggest whether Scent-Lok actually works or not. It only suggests they were found liable of false advertising. So…DOES SCENT-LOK WORK? Let’s air our that laundry…
I tell hunters all the time to hunt with your nose to the wind. My OPINION is that it can help, certainly can not hurt, and it may be the edge that gets that deer to hang on three more seconds for a shot. On the other hand, I do not believe any clothing will eliminate 100% of human odor. You stink. Own it! On the other hand, if it makes you feel more confident when heading to the field to wear Scent-Lok clothing then go for it. Heck I’d wear my wife’s prom dress if I thought it would help!
I am interested as to what your experiences have been with Scent-Lok…

Despite all the efforts of Scentlok and Scentblocker , advertizers and our hunting pro’s like Lakowsky, Waddell , Nugent , Bushman and others the court has cleanly shown that carbon clothing is worthless is stopping any odor in testing. If the court accepts cases in 10 different states that alone should be reason enough to know that something is smelly about their product. If you like to burn your money its lining someone elses pocket. Once I read the deposition of Dr.Amos Turk , the expert hired by the carbon clothings expert I realized that they have been fooling and fleecing the public for years. Now the real fun begins. Scentlok has now taken Scent Blocker to court. This will be really interesting as more details become available to the public.
Well I don’t know if I can agree with the so called experts. I have personally been so close do deer that I could reach out and touch them and they did not know I was there. A combination of good camo, scent blocking clothing and scent killing spray (the clear stuff, not the carbon black stuff, has led to many a close encounter that otherwise would not have been possible. Heck, I was using military carbon lined clothing for scent blocking long before it became popular and expensive. So, don’t stop using something if you know if works for you, just because some so-called expert disagrees.
Good point Ben! What may not work for some can be a miracle for others. If it works for you and gives you more confidence when going afield then go for it! It certainly doesn’t hurt. Good luck this fall!
