…where has Summer gone!?…what did I do with all the time I had to get ready for this year’s hunting seasons?…if you haven’t noticed we are staring the month of September square in the face and that means just  days to ready ourselves for the initial onslaught of some of the fastest-paced hunting of the season…here’s my list of things I must accomplish immediately!…

Dove Season (September 1 – Only 12 Days Away)

  • Shoot Some Blue Rock
  • Get HIP #
  • Buy More Shotgun Shells
  • Obtain Jalapeños & Cream Cheese – Ready Grill
  • Scout Pastures, Water Spots & Sunflower Patches

 Teal Season (September 4 – Only 15 Days Away)

  • Shoot More Blue Rock
  • Dust off Decoys
  • Check Waders for Leaks
  • Scout Shallow Water Areas & Flooded Fields
  • Purchase State & Federal Waterfowl Stamps

 Archery Deer (September 15 – Just 26 Days Away)

  • Practice, Practice, Practice
  • Purchase some Season Choice Deer Permits
  • Shoot 3D’s at the N-100 (Camp Calvin Crest near Fremont)
  • Hang Stands
  • Scout river bottoms and wooded corridors
  • Buy makings for Venison Jerky

 Prairie Grouse (September 18 – Just 29 Days Away)

  • Shoot Still More Blue Rock
  • Obtain my East Zone Grouse Permit
  • Work Bird Dog
  • Scout mixed grassy areas with food – rose hips, hoppers and cropfields
  • Plan a Prairie Grouse Camping Trip with Family & Friends
