Workshop Taught Ballistics To Urban Wildlife Professionals
I helped Dr. Scott Hygnstrom of UNL provide a ballistics program to wildlife professionals from across the Country and I have to say the program was pretty cool! The workshop was for those wildlife professionals who remove various wildlife species from sensitive environments. We went over detailed ballistics, shooting training, discussed various bullets for the job and public opinion of their work. The highlights included a shooting scenario where the students engage various deer targets at ranges from 25 – 75 yards using rifle of choice. They had to decide if the shot was safe, appropriate, and if it would result in a safe and humane harvest of the animal. The program was led by Dr. DiNicola, an expert in ballistics and wildlife harvest techniques. The students learned a lot and over the three day period and much discussion was had. Once again Kudos to Dr. Scott for bringing such quality training to Nebraska and helping wildlife professionals from various states become more efficient and better at their job.
