Would You Be Convicted?
I am a hunter and angler. I treasure each day in the woods or on the water and I strive to give back to the sport…to conservation where I can. I was wondering the other day…hypothetically, if I were to be accused of being a conservationist, would I have lived a life with enough evidence of such devotion to be convicted?
Do all my friends know how much I cherish the land, its wild creatures and its natural landscapes? Have my actions shown a deep appreciation for those that have paved the way for me to feel the thrill of the chase and roam wild places? Have I displayed hunting and fishing in a positive light to everyone I meet?
I would hope my life would be filled with evidence that I was a devoted conservationist. I hope everyone knows that I stand for something much bigger and more important than just another hunt. I would hope that I have left a trail of hard evidence that I love the outdoors, wild animals and wild places. That I love hunting, fishing, campfires and time in the field with family and friends. I would hope my conviction would be easy and that my sentence would be equally fitting of my devotion to conservation. I sure hope my sentence would include mountains, campfires and elk…
