Is there a better phrase than "Cast and Blast"
It’s a phrase that describes those hunters and anglers who combine both fishing and hunting on the same trip. It’s obviously used because it rhymes, but it comes with a bit more harshness than I like. With hunting comes shooting and killing, however to “blast” is something that should be regulated to rocket travel.
So I will provide a much more boring title to my trip to Grove Lake WMA yesterday – Fish and Hunt. That’s what our group did. And while two members of our party spent their entire day on the water, catching (and releasing) pike up to 37 inches, two others spent the day chasing dove around a place that was pretty hard to locate dove. There were birds in the area, but we spent a lot of time on the tops of hills looking for flight lines. We carved out a very nice hunt, with two of us shooting 12 birds, but there was no food plot, no prairie pond water source (at least that I could find), so it was a true “dove hunt.” Also one of the most enjoyable days I’ve had in the field this year. For both parties.
If I could just figure out a better title for what these trips are.
