Early Christmas Present, is what I would like to call it!!!
This past Sunday morning, my younger sister and I went out hunting with the Nebraska Game and Parks Youth Mentor Program and experienced a thrill. Yes, It was snowing, but no, I wasn’t cold. It was a beautiful morning in the woods with the light snow falling, and light breeze. As I sat there, I really didn’t care if I harvested anything that morning, but as it turned out, the morning just got better as time went on! Around 7:50am, I looked up to the north of me, and spotted five does and one fawn slowing walkin in toward me. At first they out skirtted me, but for some reason when they got out around me, totally up-wind, they turned and came directly toward me. The two biggest does and the fawn were under my cedar tree smelling around, when all of a sudden they jumped. So I drew back my bow on one of the does, and pulled the trigger! She made it about 100yards before crashing, after running past my mentor, Kevin.
As it turned out, my younger sister also harvested a mature doe around 8am that same morning!!
I am so blessed with the hunting and experience I have had in the last four months! This doe for me, was my 10th doe of the season, all with great recoveries!
Merry Christmas to everyone, and have a Happy New Year!!!
