The hunted??? A mulie sneaks up on Hershy.

…wow, what a weekend!…11 youngsters, along with some parents & mentors, got to experience an amazing weekend of fun & late season deer hunting in Nebraska’s Sandhills & Pine Ridge Area – thanks to hospitality of the Forney Family…this once-in-a-lifetime educational opportunity had lots to offer the participants as the young hunters harvested some memories that will last a lifetime & 18 antlerless deer, too - many harvesting their very first & second deer, ever!…along with the hunting there was a bunch of extras as well – dog sledding, games, a campfire under a billion stars and plenty of food cooked over-the-fireby Commissioner Kent Forney…the menu featured venison at each meal, with the final entree being supplied by the youth hunters themselves as we enjoyed melt-in-your-mouthvenison back-straps…though the weekend was all about the kids, mentor Andy Bantam summed it up best when he asked “Do you think the kids have figured it out yet that we have just as much as they do?”  – No, and I hope they never do!

Thanks to Forney Family: Kent & Shelley, Glen & Nancy, Dean, Joann, Bruce & Beth, Austin & Lynn.
