AN OPEN LETTER FOR YOU TO OPEN UP YOUR FIELDS AND WATERS
Dear Producer,
Open Fields and Waters is an outstanding program that allows you to use your land to provide the public with more places to hunt and fish. And I am pleased to announce that the benefits of being enrolled in the Open Fields and Waters program keep getting better.
This year, Open Fields and Waters has improved hunting access rates. These improvements apply to woodlands, wetlands, CRP, and roundout acres.
In addition, you can take advantage of a one-time signing bonus for contracts ranging five years or longer.
Seasonal flexibility also has been enhanced, giving landowners and operators better control over hunting and fishing access. Now you can control access to your land during rifle deer, spring turkey, and ice-fishing seasons.
Additional benefits include protection under the Nebraska Recreation Liability Act, which means you won’t be liable for accidents or injuries that might happen on your property. You can also count on Game and Parks representatives to handle all of the program-related aspects of the work for you, including posting signs and monitoring land usage. In addition, your land will be listed in the Nebraska Public Access Atlas.
I strongly encourage you to participate in this program so future generations of hunters and anglers can enjoy the great outdoors. It’s easy to get started. For more information about enrolling your land in the Open Fields and Waters program, call your local Game and Parks representative, or visit www.OutdoorNebraska.org
