MORELS!

Yep, the morel mushroom harvest season is officially underway here in Nebraska, woo-hoo! A buddy of mine found about a dozen 2-4 inch morel mushrooms in the green grass of the Elkhorn River bottom woodlands near Waterloo, NE yesterday afternoon.

We have good soil moisture right now, but could use some warmer temps and sunshine, don’t you think? Definitely though, time to get permission with your landowner friends for morel mushroom hunting and start checkin’ the spots where morels have appeared in the past in your river bottom woodlands (if you haven’t done so already)!
