The new Lawrence Youngman Lake (Papio Dam Site #13) just northwest of 192nd & West Dodge Road in west Omaha opens to fishing this Sunday, May 1st! Here’s an aerial photo of the new 60-acre lake stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill and channel catfish. Go here to find out fishing regulations for the lake: http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/Fishing/guides/fishguide/pdf/FishGuide.pdf

The lake has a concrete boat ramp and a no wake, 5 mph speed limit for boating.

In conjunction with the lake’s opening, we at Game and Parks have scheduled a family fishing event from 2-4 p.m. Bring your family out to the lake and wet some lines with us! Look for our white Urban Fisheries Trailer, where rods and reels, as well as bait and fishing instruction will be available.

This is the ideal opportunity for people who have never fished or haven’t fished for years to come and experience the angling lifestyle! All participants who are 16 years of age or older will need a current Nebraska fishing permit if they fish at the event. Click here to begin the process to purchase your fishing permit: https://ngpc-permits.ne.gov/NGPC-PS/faces/public/welcome

Come see us and check out the Omaha area’s newest reservoir!
