PREP WEEKEND FOR FIREARM DEER SEASON

November 4, 2011 In The Wild No Comments

This, the weekend before the opening weekend of Nebraska’s popular firearm deer hunting season, will be a preparation weekend for that hunt with the Wagner family members and friends. After locating our signed permit(s)/habitat stamp, we will be heading out to check our blinds, stands, etc.

We’ll be scouting, too, looking for new deer sign like fresh, active whitetail buck rub lines.

We’ll also be sighting in our rifles and chatting with neighboring farmers to see how their crop harvest has progressed and to formulate a game plan regarding safety for the opener.

Additionally, we’ll be examining our gear for wear and tear, and putting our clothes in bags with cedar sawdust for a bit of cover scent.

These are just some of the tasks we’ll accomplish this weekend in advance of the big opener for firearm deer. So, how about you and your hunting partners, are you folks among the 65,000-plus firearm deer hunters who’ll be afield like us next Saturday and Sunday, November 12th and 13th? Are you prepared for it? If not, there’s still time this weekend for you guys and gals to work together and do that. Remember, if you plan your hunt, you can hunt your plan. The odds for success increase and things tend to go safer and smoother! Enjoy your Nebraska firearm deer hunting season! I know we will because we have planned and prepared for it! Oh, and here’s a reminder to not forget  that tree stand safety harness if you’re gonna be elevated.
