A 3rd egg and change

March 31, 2012 Nongame Bird Blog 3 Comments

I woke up in the middle of the night, I think around 2 a.m., and for whatever reason, I checked in on the Peregrines.  The female was standing in the nestbox, suggesting that another egg was about to be laid.  Thus, it was no surprise to wake up this morning and see a third egg.    Now, the question becomes, are more eggs on the way or is this it?   We will all have to wait and see.  A four egg clutch would be about average, but Peregrines are known to lay as many as five or six eggs.

I am sure everyone has also noticed that the way we are delivering the streaming video has changed.   This was a necessary step, as the old way of delivering the video was placing a great deal of stress on the state’s digital network and was unsustainable.  Plus, some people could not access the streaming video.   Life is about chang, but change is never easy.  I hope everyone understands we are trying to deliver the best product with very limited resources.

I think this is great! The blog is a wonderful addition. Will the same be done for the Kestrel nest box?

      Hi Debra:

Thanks for the positive feedback. We probably won’t incorporate the Kestrel webcam into the blog, but I blog about it and keep people updated. Thanks again.
