A New View of the Peregrine Falcons at the Capitol

March 23, 2012 Nongame Bird Blog 2 Comments

Welcome! It is that time of year again when all of us are thinking spring. The Peregrine Falcons at Nebraska’s Capitol are also thinking spring and have become more and more active around their nestbox. As in previous years, we aim to provide the public a view of Peregrine Falcon family life. But we are mixing things up this year by adding a second camera that has been placed right next to the nestbox and will provide a close-up view of the action. Second, we are incorporating the Peregrine webcams in a blog where we hope to provide information about the birds and also use it as a forum to interact with Peregrine watchers. We are still working out some bugs and kinks, so please be patient as we continue to make progress and put the final touches on things.

The Peregrine Falcon webcams are brought to you as a joint effort of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Office of the Capitol Commission. Funding for the project comes from the Nebraska Wildlife Conservation Fund, or state income tax check-off, so don’t forget us during tax season (which is now!). A few individuals have devoted a great deal of time and effort in the new set up, so special thanks is extended to Troy Kroeger and Brett Daugherty.

Joel, the new camera is amazing. Saturday was a particularly clear day and about 7:15 PM I saw the most amazing delivery of dinner that I have ever seen on any site I monitor. WOW is the only word to describe how great this new camera quality is and angle. I cannot tell you how exciting this is. Thanks again.
