TALKIN’ TURKEY ON TV AND RADIO THIS WEEK

April 8, 2012 In The Wild 1 Comment

Nebraska’s popular spring shotgun wild turkey hunting season occupies center stage on my outdoor television segment and radio program this week. That’s because the spring shotgun turkey opener is this Saturday, April 14th! I don’t know about you but I am sooo pumped up for it! Spring wild turkey hunting is one of my favorite outdoor sports/activities.

I’ll be offering some important hunting tips and reminders for those of us going out during the turkey season this spring on my Weekly TV  Outdoor Report. That airs on Omaha’s WOWT-TV/Channel 6 Thursday at 6 p.m. during the sportscast. If you miss it, you can see it on Saturday morning later in Channel 6′s hour-long, 8 a.m. newscast. In addition, video replays of the segment are available on the station’s website: www.wowt.com/sports

On radio, the grand master of Nebraska turkey hunting, turkey call maker extraordinaire (www.turpincalls.com) and hilarious humorist Dick Turpin of Lincoln, NE comes to the microphone. When you ‘talk turkey’ in Nebraska , you talk to Turpin! And, that’s exactly what I am going to do for this Saturday’s Great Outdoor Radio Show from 9-10 a.m. CST on Omaha’s KOZN RADIO 1620 AM “The Zone” and online at www.1620thezone.com

This is one hour you absolutely will not want to miss, trust me! Here’s a photo of my good friend Dick Turpin.

See you on TV or chat with you on the radio. Thanks a bunch in advance for watching and listening! If you’ll be in the field spring  turkey hunting, remember your hunter education training and have a safe hunt!

    hi Greg,

I have a 21 year old brother in Minnesota that is interested in going into a hunting or outdoor game and parks job. I am writing you since I know you from the radio and the news in Omaha. I have lived in Omaha for over 10 years. I live in Omaha, NE but my brother Joe… lives in MN still. He is searching out new occupations in hunting and fishing or outdoor work since we all came from a big dairy farm in Minnesota. I am just seeking out some insight and info to help my brother, JOE, get this done. My brother Joe is looking into getting a job like you have. What are his options? What does he need to do to get this done? Did you go to 4 years of college or a technical school? How would he get on in jobs in any field from the ground floor for some experience this summer? He is very much into outdoor sports and outdoor hunting and fishing. Some guidance or help would be appreciated to get him on the right road to a great job. Thanks. Best number to call is 507-926-5455, call after 7pm on weekdays. Also some websites would help him in his qwest. LORI
