THE AWESOME OUTDOOR EDUCATION CAR
A really neat thing to pass along to you here … A group of Syracuse high school kids under the direction of teacher Doug Iske built a unique, light-electric car for the Power Drive program and competition in Nebraska (http://www.oppd.com/AboutUs/PowerDrive/22_001444) and contacted me about making it the Nebraska Game and Parks blaze orange (with camo highlights) “Outdoor Education Car.” Donna Schimonitz in our Information and Education Division worked with our Jeff Rawlinson and our education folks to get them some graphics/logos for the car, and below are pics of the result. The car has been raced several times around the state in the Power Drive program, sponsored in part by OPPD, and as you’ll see from the photos, has even won! The next appearance for the car is tomorrow at Papillion’s Werner Park in Sarpy County where the Omaha Storm Chasers play baseball. Here’s a link to an article about the popular event being held tomorrow that was done by our friends at the Lincoln Journal Star: http://journalstar.com/news/local/high-schools-compete-in-oppd-s-power-drive-contest/article_c7020e89-594f-5819-bf55-67062128ec04.html
Big thanks and congrats to Mr. Iske and his students for promoting our Game and Parks Outdoor Education programs on their fine and fast car! If you’re going to Werner Park tomorrow, you gotta root for the awesome outdoor education car!!!
