Cowboy Trail Bridge at Norfolk Open Again
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail’s new Norfolk bridge is complete and open to the public. The bridge located 3 miles west of town, which spans the Elkhorn River, replaces the one washed out by a 2010 flood.
Two miles of trail west of the bridge also has been repaired and is open. However, the remainder of the trail west to Battle Creek is under construction. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission urges people to avoid the construction area. That portion of the trail is expected to be completed by July 1.
Work will continue through the summer and into the fall to repair the 22 miles of trail damage. Trail users can get daily updates from OutdoorNebraska.org to see which sections are closed for repairs.
