Carp Tour 2012
I want to throw up a quick post to share some of my pictures from our big Carp-O-Rama event at Pawnee Reservoir this past Saturday. We started off the event with a thunderstorm, but it passed through relatively quick and the rest of the morning was beautiful. Estimates are that there were around 800-900 folks that came out; there were some fish caught, a lot of fish cleaned and eaten, and I believe a good time had by all!
I know this little guy was having fun.
Fishing hard.
Fish on!
Everyone needs a good net man!
OK, let him show off the stringer of fish, he earned it.
Another carp comes ashore.
I believe the Nebraska Fish & Game Association provided all the bait this year. THANK YOU!
They had a variety of special dough baits mixed up. I was a little suspicious of this “super hero” recipe.
I am thinking this gentleman was a little suspicious of the bait in the cups too (rightfully so!).
Tips and techniques:
“Might as well make a fish print while you’re there.”
(That is one of my co-workers with the paint on her face. She will be happy when she finds out I got a picture of her with paint on her face. Ha)
Finished product.
Time to give away some prizes to the kids. No one commands a crowd like Dick Turpin. Thanks Dick!
“Winner–Winner, Chicken Dinner!”
I always emphasize that folks should come out to our family fishing events, and Carp-O-Rama expecting to have fun! Sure there is a bunch of work that goes into these events, and a “thank you” to all involved, but you know what? We are just out there having fun too! Want some proof? Here’s my daughter and me goofing off in the backround while this picture was being snapped:
Sorry Naomi. Sorry Dina. I couldn’t resist.
OK, if you are still reading, still looking at pictures, maybe you have not had enough. This summer, for the first time, there are going to be some expanded carp fishing opportunities. Now, the big annual event at Pawnee with all the “bells and whistles”, activities and fried fish was held last Saturday. If you missed that you need to start planning ahead for next year. But, that does not mean you cannot go carp fishing! And in fact, we are going to have some more opportunities coming this summer where waters will be pre-baited and you can head on out and have an excellent chance of catching some carp! If you are interested in that:
We are planning another big Carp-O-Rama event for July 14 out at Lake Maloney south of North Platte. Stay tuned for more details on that.
As I am writing this is is pretty much “Africa Hot” through the whole state. We are rolling into mid-summer when the fishing can get a little more challenging. But, the carp can still be caught! Go Fish!

Daryl,
Dina has a gun. That is all.
Chris
Thank you for reminding him Chris. I was about to do the same. At least Naomi looks good!
I know Dina has a gun, but she is a great sport!
No I am not!
I have a gun, but my eyebrows seem to have disappeared!
