Peregrine Chicks Named Lewis and Clark
LINCOLN, Neb. – The two peregrine falcons fledged at a nest box atop the Nebraska State Capitol have been named Lewis and Clark, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
Six hundred votes were cast in the annual Name the Chicks Contest. Game and Parks selected the winning entry, which was submitted by the following falcon fans: Anne Sawyer, Boulder, Colo.; Marvin Oltman, Lincoln; Jack and Nancy Soukup, Davey; David Vanek, Irwin, Pa; Don Alvord, Lincoln; Harper Wilmoth, Lincoln; and Tad Frazier, Lincoln.
Like their namesakes, falcons Lewis and Clark are exploring now and rarely are seen at the nest box.
