Celebrating the Fourth at Epworth Park – Nebraska State Historical Society
Over a century ago, Lincoln’s Epworth Park was the scene of a more subdued than normal Fourth of July celebration, according to the Nebraska State Journal. Despite the subdued nature of the gathering, it was deemed a success with over four-thousand in attendance, and Governor George L. Sheldon making an appearance as one of the featured speakers for the festivities.
