Family Fishing Night

July 23, 2012 Barbs and Backlashes No Comments

It has been over a week ago already, but I slid over to Papillion one evening recently to help out with a Family Fishing Night at Halleck Park.  Actually it was a relatively nice evening, at least it was until the wind died and it got humid and muggy.  We had around 200 folks come out; I believe a good time was had by all.  Let me share a few photos.

Do a little casting practice.

Slide over to the "bait table".

"What's in the bucket?"

Must be a good spot to fish.

Looks like another good spot over there.

If they are not fishing, they still love to play with the fish and other aquatic critters!

Time for a quick picture, "Smile"!

Even the "big kids" caught some fish. First ever channel cat for this lady!

Some folks even got expert advice from celebrities. I believe here Greg Wagner is telling how he would like to dive in to cool off.

And this is "cute-squared"--cutest fish caught by one of the cutest little anglers!

A lot of the folks you see in the pictures were volunteers that came out to help.  THANK YOU!!!!!!!  Our volunteers are the folks that make these events happen.  I am not going to name them, would never get them all nor get all the names right, but you know who you are–THANK YOU!  And if you do not know who you are, maybe you would like to get involved and help too?  http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/fishing/programs/aquaticed/index.asp

Sorry kids, summer is flying by.  We are well through most of our Family Fishing Events that were scheduled for this summer.  I know it has been brutally hot, but there is still a chance to get out and attend one of these events.  We supply the tackle, we supply the bait, we even have lots of free advice and expertise.  Grab the kids, bring the family, come on out and join in on the fun!
