New Boating Restrictions below Gavins Point Dam

Our Nebraska paddlefish snagging season opened October 1.  Snagging for the paddlefish is allowed only on the stretch of Missouri River from Gavins Point Dam downstream to the mouth of the Big Sioux River.  By far, the most popular and best spot to fish is in the tailwaters right below the dam.  Folks who possess a 2012 paddlefish snagging permit should be aware of some new boating restrictions that have been implemented by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  When you get to the tailwaters you will see new signs and I believe there will be a new buoy line in place.  Here is really about all I know about this:

From what I know, this is being implemented for safety purposes.  I wish the coordination and timing of this restriction would have been different.  There is a phone number provided on that announcement; if you have more questions you will  have to ask the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, I know nothing.
