I am currently sitting on the edge of a cornfield near Tekamah, NE for my firearm opener. Hunting partner Matthew Marx is overlooking a draw on the opposite side of the property and lifelong best friend Rob Gaia, on his first Nebraska deer hunt, is watching a crossing between a thicket and a patch of woods.
We would have started this morning but Rob’s flight was delayed. Therefore, our opening morning has turned into our opening afternoon. And anticipation is large considering the impending front.
If you’re not hunting this afternoon or tomorrow morning and can, shame on you. There’s no telling what this weather change is going to do to the deer, and I’ll definitely be here to see for myself.
