Keep Named Youth Conservationist for 2012 by Nebraska Wildlife Federation

Monica Keep was named the 2012 Youth Conservationist by the Nebraska Wildlife Federation (NWF) at their Award Banquet and FUNdraiser event held at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park on Oct. 16.  Keep is a recent fisheries and wildlife graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).

Keep has served as a UNL Wildlife Club officer, was an intern at the Henry Doorly Zoo, and works for the Game and Parks Commission.  She volunteered for Project WILD at Ponca Outdoor Expo, Naturepalooza and has worked as a deer check volunteer.  Keep has taught children at Lincoln’s Bright Lights programs, worked with Dennis Ferraro in the herpetology laboratory, and helped present a geocaching workshop at Aksarben Aquarium.  The UNL Wildlife Club awarded Keep The Environmental Education Award and she was recognized as the club’s Outstanding Wildlife Student as a college senior.  Keep, assumed the role of  Wildlife Education Assistant at Game and Parks on Aug. 22, 2012.
