Fishing Forecast 2012

A few folks have already noticed, but I am betting that most have not seen that the new 2012 Fishing Forecast has been posted on our Nebraska Game & Parks Commission website, http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/fishing/pdfs/FishForecast.pdf .  We have been producing this annual fishing forecast for several years now, and I believe it …

Out of the office, January 3, 2012

As you are reading this, I am out of the office and have been for several days.  You did not know that because I whipped up a bunch of blog posts ahead of time.  Hopefully, this means that I have been on the water or in the field someplace in …

State Record Update, Underwater Spearfishing

Recently I finally got around to updating some of the state record fish that have been taken in 2011, and at that time I promised there were more to come.  Well, here they are.  All of these new records that I am about to tell you about were taken by …

Hang time revisited

OK, hardcore hardwater anglers, sit down and read this, all of it.  I am going to revisit a topic that I blogged about during last year’s ice season.  There are a million different ice fishing jigs on the market.  Once again I will tell you that all of them will …

Merry Christmas!

This is corny as all get out, but I don’t care.  The Muppets, Looney Tunes, and the Stooges–it don’t get any better than that! Merry Christmas everyone!  Have a blessed holiday, hope you get to share it with those you love!

Spread the Joy this Holiday Season!

I got this in an e-mail from Rapala, http://usa.rapala.com/email/spread-the-joy/ .  I absolutely love the commercial! I have lived most of the scenes in that commercial, Ha! I promise you that I will “spread the joy” every chance I get! Have a great weekend!

Quick Updates, Dec. 15, 2011

I have a couple of news items that warrant a quick update today. First of all, there have been hundreds of dead freshwater drum show up in the tailwaters below Gavins Point Dam in the past couple of days.  Reports I have are that most of those fish are on …

Ah, back on the ice

I love to ice fish.  A year ago I even suggested in my blog that I consider my first day on the ice each winter to be the beginning of the new year, http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/blogs/2010/12/happy-year/ .  Well, whether you have celebrated the new year or not, yet, I have!  The kids …
