Weekend Report, Memorial Day 2011

NOTE:  As I post this, we are having some problems with pictures showing up in our blog posts.  I have no idea why that is, but our “I.T.” folks are aware of it, and I am told that they are working on it.  If you cannot see all the pictures, …

Family Fishing Nights and a “Thank You”

I fully realize that our schedule of family fishing nights for 2011 has already started, but it is not too late for most of these events.  Here is the list for central and western Nebraska. . . . And here is the list for eastern Nebraska . . . . …

National Safe Boating Week

I am a little late with this, National Safe Boating Week is May 21-27 this year, http://www.safeboatingcampaign.com/ .  But before I head out for the Memorial Day weekend, here at the official start of summer, is the perfect time for this reminder. WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKETS!!!!!! I know, I have …

The view from inside a pair of waders

I do not own a boat.  Well, I guess I own a belly boat/float tube, but that is it.  I have spent a lot of time working in and fishing from a variety of boats, but I do not own one.  Most of my fishing occurs while wearing a pair …

Nebraska Master Naturalist

It was a busy weekend again this past weekend; another “working weekend” at least for a portion of it.  I want to tell you about what I did. Yesterday I taught a couple of topics for Nebraska’s Master Naturalist program.  This is a program where folks who are very interested …

Initially my thought was that this might have been left by some stupid kids who had been fooling …

Turkey Wrap-Up

For those of you who consistently read my blog. . . don’t you have anything better to do with your time?  No, seriously, if you read my last blog post at the end of last week, you know I was “out west” for a graduation and other activities.  Time to …

Zebra Mussel News

I know of a couple of meetings coming up in the next couple of weeks that folks need to know about. If you live in the Harlan County area, or if you regularly fish Harlan and can be in the area when this meeting is held, you need to be …

Congratulations

You will not know it, because I can make posts ahead of time, but I am out of the office today.  I am gone to celebrate high school graduations. Earlier in the week my daughter headed west with her grandparents for her cousin’s graduation from high school.  This is the …

Reaction Strikes?

Pull up a chair and keep reading if you are interested in a theoretical discussion of fish feeding behavior.  I know that sounds boring, but if you love to catch fish like I do, I am betting you have pondered such things. I will not claim to be an expert …
