Blinded Me with Science–April 18, 2011

I will use the Thomas Dolby reference again (http://s0.ilike.com/play#Thomas+Dolby:She+Blinded+Me+With+Science:37316:s92698.9636634.13272379.0.2.90%2Cstd_2b8d7a7e3ee448a7b9a747dca648c456) to tell you about some of the fisheries research going on in Nebraska.  Actually during the winter I attended a couple of meetings of fisheries professionals.  One of those was our Nebraska Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (http://www.nebraskaafs.org/index.html), and the other …

Fellowship of the one that got away

Just a quick post, just for fun, before I am outta here for the weekend. I believe you will soon be hearing some fishing promotions on local radio stations.  These “spots” have been produced by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, http://www.rbff.org/ , and should be running on radio stations …

Em Scores!

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you know that I almost always post about fish and fishing.  There is just about only one exception to that, one thing that distracts me from fishing, and that is spring turkey season.  Well, it is here, it is that most …

Walleye Egg Collections, 2011

I do not have all the final numbers yet, but I do know that our field crews are finishing up our walleye egg collections for the year.  As is typical during walleye spawn, we had some nights when the weather did not cooperate and you never know for sure what …

Cleanup Day

The beauty of having a blog is I get to control the content, I can ramble on about whatever I want and hopefully you will find it worth reading.  In this post I am going to share a story with you, going to brag on some more of my family, …

Snake River Acquisition

My buddy Greg Wagner mentioned this a few weeks ago, http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/blogs/2011/02/snake-river-falls-purchase/ , but I am going to bring it up again.  There is more information in a story that ran in the Lincoln Journal-Star this past weekend, http://journalstar.com/sports/recreation/outdoors/article_f233244d-8782-5f3d-9759-ba1a8dffbc4c.html .

Where I’ve Been, April 4, 2011

I promised a “trip report” when I finally got back in the office, so here goes.  I have been out of the office much more than in the office for the past two weeks, so to start this report you have to travel back in time to the last weekend …

Out of the office, April 1, 2011

Nope, this is not an “April Fools”. Actually, as I write this I have already “front-loaded” some blogs that will be posted while I am out of the office.  But I know when I get back I am going to have a busy week.  So, if I do not get …

One Last Outdoor Show

I do not have a lot of details on this one, but I will tell you what I know.  There is an outdoor expo being held this weekend at the Platte Valley Mall in North Platte.  I can tell you that I will be speaking at 10:30 Saturday morning, 4:30 …

A look back

We are all transitioning into a new open water season by now; in fact most of us have hit the water a few times already.  I have mentioned before that I like to keep a log book or journal of all of my fishing trips, http://outdoornebraska.ne.gov/blogs/2009/12/fishing-log/ , in fact, I …
