Season Dates - Spring
Archery — March 25-May 31
Youth Shotgun — Begins the Saturday closest to April 8-May 31
Shotgun — Begins the Saturday closest to April 15-May 31
Permit Limit: Three per hunter
Bag Limit: One male or bearded female turkey per permit

Permits are available beginning on the second Monday in January at 1 p.m. CT

Bag Limit: Two turkeys per permit

Legal Methods of Take:
  • Shotgun (Shot size 2 to 7 1/2 only. Slugs are illegal.)
  • Archery (All longbows, compound bows and crossbows are legal. Arrows must have a sharpened hunting head, with a blade of at least 7/16-inch radius and total cutting edge of at least 3 inches, or a blunt (bludgeon) head, with a diameter of at least 9/16-inch)

Shooting Hours:
30 minutes before sunrise to sunset

Landowner:
Resident:
  • Must own or lease 80 acres or more of farm or ranch land for agricultural purposes
  • Permit is restricted to the land owned/leased and listed on the permit
  • Spouse and children living in the same household are eligible
  • One permit is allowed for each 80 acres owned

Nonresident:

  • Must own 320 acres or more to be eligible
  • Permit is restricted to the land owned/leased and listed on the permit
  • Spouse and children living in the same household are eligible
  • One permit is allowed for each 320 acres owned

Minimum Age:
There is no minimum age to hunt turkeys in Nebraska. Hunters under age 12 MUST be accompanied at all times when hunting anything with a firearm or crossbow by a licensed hunter age 19 or older who if between the age of 19 and 30 must carry proof they have completed a Hunter Education Course.
