The male Northern Bobwhite's ringing territorial song is heard spring through summer in farmlands and brushy fields. Bobwhites are mostly seen foraging slowly on the ground for seeds and insects. After breeding, they form coveys that roost at night in tight circles with each bird facing outward. This species is declining in most areas, mostly due to land-use changes.
