Cowboy Recreation & Nature Trail
Community Services
Along the ribbon of trail that is the Cowboy Recreation and Nature Trail lies many unique and interesting communities that define rural America.
From the wooded river bottoms of the Elkhorn River in the east to the unique Sandhills country of central Nebraska, these communities helped Nebraska grow and prosper.
Communities very in size from Norfolk’s 24,000 citizens to Wood Lake’s 72. In almost all cases each has something to offer the traveler. Many have special events during the summer that usually includes food, music and great family fun. A list of the amenities and services are available on a printable list on this page.
Another great source of information on these communities and others across the state is the Nebraska Department of Tourism for special events and lodging opportunities. You can contact them by phoning or writing them at Nebraska Department of Tourism, PO Box 98907, Lincoln, NE 68509-8907 or phoning 877-NEBRASKA (632-7275). Ask for the “Official Travel Guide for Nebraska.”
