Recreational Trails Program Grant

The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant fund is a fund of the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) that is administered by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.  This fund is made possible by a portion of the Federal motor fuel excise tax paid by users of off-road recreational vehicles such as snowmobiles, all terrain vehicles, off-road motorcycles and off-road light trucks. 

This fund is specifically for land acquisition for motorized or non-motorized trails, motorized or non-motorized trail development, trail-related support facilities and maintenance of both motorized and non-motorized trails.  Click on the corresponding boxes for more information and the application.

NOTE: Please be aware that Federal Highway Administration is going through a restructuring process in their funding due to reauthorization of the Highway Transportation Bill.  These potential changes could affect the Recreational Trails Program in Nebraska.  Nebraska is still accepting applications for FY12.  Should changes occur that do not include RTP funding, we will not be able to fund projects.  Nebraska encourages all applicants to apply with the intent the funds will be available.
