Bridge to Birding

Bridge to Birding is a program designed to facilitate bird awareness and connect students & educators with the outdoors and the native birds found in Nebraska.

Each Bridge to Birding Kit contains:

  • 20 pairs of 8x21 binoculars
  • 15 Birds of Nebraska field guides
  • a Flying WILD curriculum & activity guide
  • a binder of Nebraska-specific bird information

Kits are available for 2-weeks at a time and are FREE to check-out.

* Individuals checking out the kits are responsible for pick-up and return of the kits to the office location. Please keep in mind that most locations are open M-F 8am-5pm. 


Educator Workshops


In addition to providing quality binocular kits, the Bridge to Birding program is also pleased to offer two educator workshops. These workshops are designed to help teach educators how to incorporate birds and birding into their curriculum and how to feel comfortable taking a group of students out bird watching.

All workshop participants will receive:

  • The Flying WILD Curriculum and Activity Guide
  • Nebraska-specific bird identification guides
  • Knowledge and skills to engage children in nature and bird watching
